October Charity of the Month
“Melinda and Doug McCaw attempted to run the entire Colorado Trail, 490 miles, in just 18 days. That is the equivalent of more than a marathon a day for 18 days straight! Oh, and with an elevation gain of almost 90,000 feet. That’s not a typo. The thing is, Doug and Melinda are not marathon runners. In fact, they’ve never run a marathon. They are an ordinary Grand Valley couple that loves the outdoors, enjoys trail running and loves to help kids succeed.” Melinda and Doug have taken their experience and started Elevate Kids! Elevate Kids is a non-profit that supports organizations like Kids Aid and Intermountain Adventist Academy in their outreach efforts to help children in the Grand Valley.
Kids Aid is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing for the needs of children, with a primary focus on supplying food to hungry kids. In collaboration with local schools, childcare providers and other organizations, the Backpack Program sends food home with children who otherwise would go hungry over the weekend. Experiencing food insecurity can limit a child’s ability to learn, grow and have fun. Kids Aid is a community solution to “helping kids be kids.” They currently serve approximately 2,000 children in our district every week.
Intermountain Adventist Academy is a K- 8 Christian school committed to providing quality education in a Christ-filled environment. It is the purpose of Intermountain Adventist Academy to offer all students the tools to become men and women of excellence, academically, morally, and spiritually. Students at Intermountain Adventist Academy will acquire a strong appreciation for SERVICE to others.
